Whatever the shadow crystals are supposed to do didn't work on Gerson like they did with Jevil and Spamton, that's the cue that what he's speaking makes complete sense to the story, including him breaking the prophecy panels. Spamton and Jevil both make too much sense as well, so the shadow crystals are supposed to prevent them from helping the Fun gang I guess.
Whatever the twist is, it will be after the prophecy shenanigans. My bet is on the game ending and Gaster pulling a "did you rike it" on (YOU) and then you both tampering with the game, forcing the last chapter for some reason.
