You have agency to make moral decisions of your own, and you have an inherent obligation to refuse orders that are in gross violation of your ethics. Blizzard writers -- Danuser in particular -- do not understand this concept because they are double-digit IQ apes. They are at the peak of Dunning-Kruger's Mount Stupid, which is why they think they are smarter than everyone else while in reality they are ruining more and more of the lore with every patch they put out. They also self-insert into the story a lot, in very thinly-veiled ways, to lecture the players about world views which are inherently misguided. They are essentially turning the entire game into a shitty webcomic, and they are being paid lots of money to do so.
