Miles hasn't been canceled because we're still living in a time period where ticking off check-boxes is still more important than being a good character that people are interested in. He's artificially propped up and promoted because Marvel doesn't want the negative backlash from cancelling spider-poochie (even if no one's really buying his comics and his merch doesn't sell as well as Spider-man's merch).
