>The spike protein does, it encodes itself and once it gets into the cell it makes copies of itself
The spike protein is a fucking protein. I swear to fucking god, anon..
Let's look at the pieces here (we'll keep it simple)
>mRNA
The 'm' stands for messenger. Strand of genetic code. It's only single-stranded, so it's fairly fragile and breaks down within a couple days.
>ribosome
Reads the mRNA instructions codon-by-codon and fits matching nearby amino acids into a chain, known as a protein, until it reaches a terminating codon. (Side note: in cellular biology you'll find the general strategy is just having a bunch of bits floating in a soup and hoping the right ones bump together like magnets)
>spike protein
A chain of amino acids. This piece is NOT genetic material and has no ability to replicate. It's main purpose is to help a virus to stick to and enter the cell. It can't perform this function since it's already in the cell and doesn't have the rest of the virus to carry out anything more than a single step in a multiple-protein process. As it floats about in the cell's cytoplasm, some of them will bump into little windows on the cell's membrane, presenting them to immune cells that float by for mandatory Penis Inspection Day. If the immune cell sees the protein, it'll recognize it as foreign and force the cell to undergo suicide, usually by popping a bunch of digestive enzymes to dissolve whatever is in the cell into a nice little bodybag to be cleaned up later.
>new strains that popped up as you said by the vaccine program
It's more that new strains were filtered by the vaccine program. Anything the vaccines covered for was killed off and taken out of the competition. We targeted the most deadly strains, so far more benign strains became dominant among the population.
