This is a stupid hipster "point of pride" thing as far as I'm concerned, like when someone acts like you spit on their mother if you ask for a well-done burger.
Yeah the official Chicago dog has no ketchup (because the sweetness is already provided by the neon relish), and if I ask for a Chicago dog and you serve me one with katsup on it I will think you don't know what I asked for, but if someone puts catsup on their already served Chicago dog that's just their taste.
Hotdogs can and should be dressed any way you like to eat them.
