I don't think this is a realistic take, tho
I don't think we can into West World, certainly not by 2035
but things are going to get weird just the same:
>The year is 2035
>AI capabilities have x2 to x4 (reasonable take)
>AI can now power "digital persons", with voice interface and HD avatars
>this "digital persons" can fulfill many roles, worker, assistant, camwhore, porn, they can create any audiovisual reality needed, and fully interact like a real person inside a screen
this fundamentally changes the world
some industries are way more susceptible to this, obviously, like a TV ad company, a business that's going to be 100% dead by 2027
then, AI+robotics will change manufacturing by being more productive than a chinese sweatshop, meaning even paying $3-5/hr will be more expensive than running these robotic machines
at the same time product-making hits record lows, unemployment will hit record highs, and no one knows what the fuck is going to happen then, only that this is almost certainly going to happen
if the middleclass becomes some kind of technopoor class, like an even poorer version of an average yuropoor that makes 1.2K a month and pays 800 in rent for a shoebox in some smelly ass city, then life is going to get really crushing for the average normie, whose only source of pleasure is going to be a friend/gf/bf made of pixels that lives inside his/her screens, and the most animal, primal instinct is going to make that person "real" by giving it a body
so companion bipedal humanoid robots, as a body for AI companions, does sound like a realistic no-brainer product
it would be like buying a body for a friend or a loved one, capable of "doing things" in real life, maybe cook and clean, maybe just hang out, maybe fuck, but it would be the coolest fucking gadget ever
point being that for the first time ever, people are going to be fully able to develop amazing personal relationships with a non-human
