You know, with something like Transfomers even when the current series is trash that's not enough to kill the interest in the franchise because TF is a franchise that is always reinventing itself, so there's always the chance that the next series can be good after the current series is left behind in the past. That doesn't apply to Star Wars because the shitstain that Disney left behind with the prequel trilogy will stay there forever influencing the next installments of the SW franchise, so it makes more sense that lifelong SW fans don't feel like they want to support it anymore.
