You're not saving for Kitasan banner to MLB Kitasan. That is impossible without whaling or extreme luck. You are saving for it because it's a waste to roll for supports before it. You are saving for it because having even one copy will get you closer to eventually MLBing it. You will pack your deck with SRs and will actually start playing the game.
Similarly if you're rolling for umas there's no reason to roll before Bourbon, she's the first really good uma that's gonna be relevant for quite some time. Then you want SMaru, Degitan, XOguri and ChocoBon.
There are not a lot of MUST HAVE cards and umas in the game. You can realistically save for them and you will if you want to be competitive. If not then who even cares, roll for your waifu, roll on 10-roll events. We survived as f2ps on JP somehow without knowing the future, you have all the info in the world to decide what you personally want to do.
