there actually used to be a workaround via hex editing that was around for years, but since the mods here maintain a strict no fun policy they patched it out not long ago. they also did the same when people found out how to upload AV1 and webms with alpha transparency which makes zero sense especially considering the latter would be an actual replacement for gif
