There's a few things nobody mentioned about this movie that are also occultic

>Ms Honey is broad shouldered and scrawny, and appears to be a "swyer" which is a woman who was originally male in the womb, with the original skeleton still intact. Ms Trunchbull is a natural woman. Ms Honey is portrayed as the beautiful and caring one, while Trunchbull is horrible and ugly and evil. Classic inversion of reality, natural women are genuinely much more caring and swyers are very whiny and harsh (a good deal of the time anyways)
>The cake scene is really interesting too, forcing a child to commit the sin of gluttony. I haven't seen this particular abuse phenomenon talked about anywhere online, but basically glowies, specifically the MKultra type handler types (but not always MKUltra handlers specifically), like forcing kids to commit a sin to corrupt them, but it HAS to be of the child's own volition, so that it's truly the child's fault, since they chose to do it (kinda).
>Trunchbull herself seems aware of the paranormal, the movie calls her superstitious, but it really feels like there's a real reason why she feels this way. She genuinely thought she was being haunted in that scene, and she KNEW Matilda was the one who hit her with the newt. Just interesting to me I guess.
