I was watching cardcaptor sakura earlier this morning and they did a school play and it just reminded me of something... why is it always cinderella? Like, precure's done a good handful of episodes parodying it, but it's ALWAYS cinderella. Except for that one time it was the little mermaid, but that genuinely caught me off guard specifically because it wasn't another cinderella episode. I'd assume it's just a cultural thing but they clearly have other western fairytales in their repertoire (nevermind their own stories, momotaro probably gets referenced just as much as cinderella admittedly) but it's just one of those things that always catches me off guard.
