Every time I see one of these doomer threads, I feel like contributing, but I also remember when I was in that mindset. It's not simply the hopelessness but the absolute certainty of it. I had to move countries before getting my shit together. I hesitate to say I got my shit together, but I used the burst of motivation of living in anime land to get enough experience and confidence to bag a wife, get a decent job, and start a family. Now with kids in the mix, I'm too exhausted to be a hyper spurg, although it helped in the beginning that the Nips have no radar for Western spaghetti, so I had time to uncringe myself, so to speak.

I still can't stand going back home, though, and when I do, I spend most of the time plastered on booze and drugs because I can't stand to listen to anyone speak in my native tongue.
