This is basic Maslow shit here. Money to most people allows them to achieve the lower levels of his pyramid but it does not allow them to achieve the top three rungs as that's entirely based on social and internal well-being. Even then, money is not required to achieve those foundational levels of needs as evident by the fact that people find ways around the common lifestyle of school -> work -> retirement.
>Heres a scenario for you, you are a father a poor one and now due to your poverty your kids go to bed hungry. Do you think that doesnt weigh upon your heart and soul, to know those who matter most, those who rely on you to feed them are not fed and go hungry?
There are a series of decisions and paradigmatic assumptions that the father made which led to this situation. He chose to bypass the lower level of the pyramid and focus on the relationship level without a secure foundation. He chose to accept the paradigm that he needs to work the standard first world capitalism career path to obtain creature comforts that tell him he is safe, secure, and has easy access to his physiological needs. People obtain those levels of security without following that path. Money will feed his kids in that specific scenario, but it both does not give him the opportunity for happiness. It removes a stressor that potentially allows for him to experience happiness more frequently, and even then we see this effect doesn't correlate directly with monetary wealth despite what the business magazine tells you.
Most importantly, happiness isn't a homeostasis that can be achieved. That's, at best, contentment which is subject to the hedonic treadmill. Happiness is something you (re)discover in moments of presentness.
