Speaking of the Stalingrad Grain Elevator: at one point the Germans sent some Russian POWs to negotiate with the soldiers defending the elevator. The POWs urged their comrades to surrender. In response the defenders shot the POWs as traitors and continued their defense.

I'm not saying I approve, but how do you deal with that level of commitment?
