There is a massive public mental health problem, but a lot of these people you see here don't loose their homes and "everything" because of drugs.
They loose it because they can't get a job, rent comes due, they get an eviction. Everything they have is thrown out of their home.
Now they are on the street without a dime, and have already been looking for work for 6mo+ ... they're probably going to go do some drugs.
If you could get a job at the 7/11 for $7 minimum wage, and buy a 3 bed room house for $35k like in the 80s ... this would not exist.
Now fuckers making $200k a year can't get a home loan due to industry turnover rates, and live in an apartment or rental for the rest of their lives.
There are a lot of factors at pay here, but the most is the housing cost to wage gap has become worse than the great depression.
