That is the big risk of Yaruki mode, yeah. Saving up everything for a big nuke only works if you get the big nuke.
As you go along, you unlock ways to mitigate that RNG some, though.
A big one early is the smoothie p-drink. It redraws your hand, so you get more chances to draw it.
Having a couple extra bombs in the deck helps, too.

You can also check your deck with one of the lower right buttons, to see what your chances are.
Top is your current hand, second is what you're gonna draw from, third is what'll get shuffled back in if you clear out 2, and fourth section is stuff that doesn't come back.
If you can see you're not gonna go through enough cards to get something useful back, it's sometimes worth taking an earlier hit instead.
