You stopped in front of the still open door, your eyes hunting for the familiar sword. You found it almost immediately, still propped up at the foot of the guest bed. The scabbard and hilt were black as pitch, with only a single white crescent moon resting near the scabbard’s opening to decorate it.
You walked over to pick it up, and then gasped slightly at how light it felt in your hands. It definitely wasn’t your imagination. You were getting stronger. You hadn’t even felt Mercy helping you that time.
You slowly lifted the sword up to eye level, and popped the blade out of its sheath by several inches. To your surprise, the metal appeared to have a golden sheen to it. You drew out the blade even further, and found that the entire thing was forged out of this gold metal.
“What is that?” Mercy asked, her head materializing over your shoulder.
You didn’t answer at first, your focus entirely absorbed by the golden weapon in your hands. The blade had a slight curve to it, similar to Japanese swords. But this metal was…entirely unfamiliar to you.
Sure, you weren’t exactly an expert, but you felt somewhat confident in your ability to identify the properties of metals used in most weapons.
“I don’t know. But I think I know who we can ask.” you declared, sheathing the blade once more.

The next time you unsheathed the blade, Shaggy was close enough to inspect it. He squinted, sniffed at it, and touched his tongue slightly to the flat of the blade.
After another minute of contemplation, his eyes flew wide open.
“Well, I’ll be damned…” he muttered, holding out a paw to block Janine from touching it.
“Move! I wanna see!” she protested.
“You can see just fine from there.” he countered.
“What? What is it?” you asked, eager to learn more about it.
“This sword is forged from Orichalcum. An exceedingly rare material used Pre-Cataclysm. Some say that the ancient Atlanteans used it in their technology, and that the mineral possessed the ability to act as a conduit for magic spells.” he explained, sounding genuinely impressed.
You pulled the sword away from Shaggy and raised it up to the light.
What will you say?
>”Why would my mom have a magical, Atlantean sword? And why’d she give it to me?”
>”Soooo what? I can use this thing to cast spells? Or are you telling me that I can cut magic with it?”
>”Exactly how rare is this thing? Like, should I be worried that the Huntsman might want to sell it later?”
>”Wanda’s gonna be so mad when she finds out I got a magic sword too…”
>Write-in.
