Just tell them the truth? Say you're a guy that apparently jumps between different universes / realities every ten years or so, that you don't have any control over it and that you usually end up "adapting" to wherever you go in some fashion, like picking up new languages or proficiencies and even one time you turned into an owl when you went to a reality where everyone was intelligent anthropometric animals. It probably wouldn't even be the strangest thing that the Federation has heard of. I'd say it wouldn't be the strangest thing the Enterprise crew has heard of either but presumably you're starting the jump during the initial "Crystalline Entity" season 1 pilot episodes so they wouldn't be nearly as jaded as they would be in, for example, season 7.
