Take any furry to one side and they will admit that fur suits are weird and strange. Any of them. They know from a reasonable outside view that it is surreal behavior. However, when they do fursuiting that self-conciousness dissapears as they subject themselves to what is reffered too psychologically as "ego dissolution". Basically because they are allowed to act as a different persona which is disconnected from their own identity, in a space where social concerns or taboos are often ignored with a tremendous amout of physical contact, where you can't see other people beyond their suits but those same people can't see you either, fursuiters undergo this ruidmentry ego dissolution which is often very pleasurable psychologically. The Pup BDSM scene that is adjacent to the fursuit community calls it "Pup space", this point where these innet mental social barriers are completely dismantled and along it with it a persons ego or identity. Your just a "pup". But the sinister part of ego dissolution is that while there is no biological component it is an addictive psychological state. Psychedelics are drugs which effect ego states and, while they are not physically addictive, most user go on to do further psychedelics to try to experience "ego death" again and again until they run into a psychological episode.
