I suppose you could say that Hinduism is Extreme Libertarianism: the Religion. At the core of Hinduism is the idea that you are free to define your idea of spirituality, rituals and even the deities you worship. And at the same time you're supposed to politely let any other Hindu worship the way they want, without interfering, no matter how nuts you may think they are. So yes, some people worsh rats, some idiots fetishise cow shit, one guy built a shrine to his toilet and one guy built a Trump temple. I can guarantee you that everyone who doesn't do those things thinks the other guys are out of their mind and laughable but also understand that those guys get to do what they want without being disturbed.

The funny thing is that the rat temple worshippers think the guys who drink cow urine are nuts and those guys think the guy worshipping Trump is nuts and he probably thought the morons who built a shrine to their toilet are nuts. But in general, they don't interfere.

And these are just the fringe. Ofc, hundreds of millions live pretty normal lives but they don't make the news.
