Someone a few days ago talked about how much of a bitch Raiden turned into and it made me think, because it's actually true.
You play as this guy without any cyborg enhancements and what do you do? You kick Vamp in his fag ass more than once, take out a bajillion Metal Gear RAYs with a rocket launcher and defeat a perfect clone of Big Boss with an exoskeleton, rape tentacles and two high frequency swords. I actually liked Raiden in MGS2.
Cut to 4 and he's so depressed and wants to die so badly that he's like a toddler against a buzzsaw trying to fight Vamp, the guy he already beat without enhancements. Moreover he shows Vamp his ass and taint while breakdancing, and penetrates himself and Vamp while giggling like a fucking schoolgirl. Vamp was a better fighter despite being massively stat checked by a guy who can twirl humvee-sized robots with his legs. But people like MGS4 because he's le faggy edgy cyborg ninja.
Then in MGRR he's crying about his past again and getting his ass overpowered and manhandled by ANOTHER GUY he should be stat checking hard, Sam. Sam gets disarmed, Raiden comes at him with a high frequency blade and what happens? Sam choke slams Raiden face first. Raiden won by the skin of his teeth and Sam was barely enhanced.
Then, what, Raiden loses outright to a guy who uses pro wrestling moves and played ball in college...
All of this in spite of his insane accomplishments in MGS2, where he had no enhancements. MGS2 Raiden would 100% beat his later incarnations. It wouldn't be close.
He might be the most disappointing, bitchmade character in the Metal Gear series
