I would say soccer and basketball are the only two that are universal

Hockey has Canadians, Americans, Europeans (esp Russians, Swedes, Finns)

Baseball has Caribbean, Latinos, Americans, Japanese

Soccer has Caribbean, Latinos, Americans, Japanese, Koreans, Canadians, Europeans, the black part of Africa (lots of big names from Africa), the north coast of Africa (lot of big names from the north coast of Africa including two great Egyptian stars playing got major clubs in the Manchester-Liverpool metroplex)
With Korean, one of the biggest soccer stars for one of the biggest clubs in London is South Korean and there are a variety of other soccer teams that have a Japanese or Korean as one of their best players

basketball also has Caribbean, Latinos ( Ginobli), Americans, Asians (Yao Ming), Canadians (the current MVP), Europeans, black part of Africa (Hakeem Olajuwon is from Nigeria) ....not sure about north coast of Africa
