Speaking of One Piece, something I recently realised is that even the sloppiest low quality serialized battle shonens have thousands of people who seek out other fans online so they can talk about how their favourite manga actually is a secret literary masterpiece exploring concepts of death, oppression, war or whatever other buzzwords they conjure up when they try to relive their high school years where they had to write essays
Yet Genshin literally does not have any of this, almost all discussion about the story is just people recapping events that occurred in past quests or 'theorists' browsing through wikipedia articles about the real world namesakes of characters and concepts while trying to find references in place where they aren't meant to be
Not even Youtube grifters who make their living by talking about this game's story want to pretend that it explores literary themes and ideas
