It can take a while of trial and error to find an antidepressant that works for you. Some people also have better luck with SNRIs than SSRIs in general. It's a common mistake to think you just jump on any random one and call it a day. It's frustrating but because everyone is different medications can have completely unexpected effects or none at all on certain people. For most people tramadol is a garbage drug that does nothing or almost nothing with a lot of bad side effects, because it relies on you having a single specific enzyme in order to properly metabolize it. I metabolize it extremely well and it feels better than fentanyl to me (which I used to smoke off foil, never shot or snorted), and was also an extremely effective antidepressant for a long time.
As annoying and frustrating as the process is you can't lose hope. You can see how quickly miserable people come out of the woodworks to shoot down anyone suggesting you try and get actual help rather than fall further into the pit of despair. Anyone who tries to drag you deeper is extremely suspect. At one point in my life I was guilty of doing that to other people, and it really was for no other reason than my own hatred and wanting to not be alone in my misery.
