If Iran had nuclear weapons they probably would blow Israel off the face of the earth and they would be justified in doing so. If that happened iran would become much more powerful and a legit threat to America which at the very least harbors hatred towards us for backing their #1 enemy for decades. They would ally with China and Russia and be able to expand their operations completely unabated. Trump is right. War is complicated. Is backing israel the right thing to do? No, and Trump knows this, but Trump is also smart enough to understand the future of a middle east not dominated by Israel. Because israel at least needs the usa, Iran would not. I hate israel as much as the next guy but the idea of Russia China iran alliance is terrifying. Who could we even ally with if israel did not exist or was significantly weaker? There's nobody. It would be the USA against the world. Basically people just need to shut the fuck up. These concepts are far beyond the comprehensive ability of 99% of people on earth. It is not as simple as "me dont like israel because jews bad and i want a peanut butter sandwich." I hate the fact that things have played out this way and we're in the boat were in but all we can do is play the hand we are dealt at this time. I dont believe Trump will go all out war with Iran. If he was going to do that he would have already done so. I imagine the Iranian leadership is sitting back, puzzled as to why Trump is hesitating. Because every other USA president in the last 50 years would be calling for blood. Based on Trumps behavior I believe he is in fact interested in shaking Israel but it has to be done delicately and slowly. The most important point here is only way we can rid ourself of israel is if we gain an ally in Iran in the process. You dont gain an ally by stabbing your former ally in the back.
