unsubstantiated claim. in any case the point is to keep them out of a landfill or tire fire and turn them instead into usable walls. there are an excessive amount of used tires in the world thanks to tire companies purposefully decreasing the durability and expected lifetime of their tires (see: planned obsolescence) hippie earthship shit is just doing something useful with an insignificant number of those tires. sheesh another use is to chop the tires up into fine rubber and use them as playground mulch and you don't see the kids dying of leeched chemical brain damage, they're just fine in the fucking dirt walls of a house.
