its interesting to speculate on what they could be, ultimately i think it's in the realm of "electrical discharge", just like meteors are. there are not rocks from space falling down on earth, it is some sort of clear discharge. when you look at shooting star or meteor timelapses on youtube, you will consistently see the same phenomena: it appears out of nowhere, shows up for a short blip, always travels in a straight line, then disappears. i genuinely believe there is a firmament above earth so it's pure speculation as to what it could be. perhaps its something on the other side of the firmament scraping on it and the result is what we see, i'm not sure
