They're certainly not a real business (that's at all easily contactable) - whatever they mean by "independent".

That animation is 1st rate by today's standards and it's 12 years old - some seriously adept animators who keep a suspiciously low profile. Not to mention the occult drops - that script undeniably comes from knowledge not some mash of ideas someone thought was cool.
