I’ve been playing Genshin since the very first Venti banner, and from early on, I found myself drawn to Geo and later, to Dendro. Over time, I’ve built and invested in characters like Navia, Alhaitham, Nahida and Chiori. I saved for them, I farmed for them, I watched entire patches go by just waiting for them to have their reruns.
After the conclusion of Sumeru, it was pretty clear, that Geo and Dendro were going to take a backseat for a while. That made sense. Their regions were done, the spotlight had moved on. But ever since Natlan began, it feels like we’ve gone from “backseat” to “please exit the vehicle entirely.”
Yes, Xilonen was released. And don’t get me wrong, she’s incredible, fun to play and super strong in her role. But let’s be honest: her strength has little to do with being Geo. She’s powerful in spite of it, thanks to her unique mechanics and debuff capabilities. It feels like her element was treated more like a minor flavor detail than an actual core part of her identity.
What really got me, though, is the new event. No Geo mode with Crystallize. No Dendro reactions except… Burning. Burning! The least used Dendro reaction. Not Bloom, not Quicken, not even a sprinkle of Hyperbloom.
And yes, I get the argument: Mavuika and Emilie are having their rerun, and they’re built around Burning. But still, no Geo bonus? No love for Crystallize? Nothing for players who’ve invested in full teams built around these elements?
I don’t mind powercreep. I don’t mind new mechanics pushing the boundaries. I don’t even mind if Geo doesn’t get another full character for a while. But to outright exclude entire elements from event modes, content bonuses, and new enemy mechanics? That feels less like evolution and more like silent erasure.

I’m still clearing content just fine. This isn’t a “my teams don’t work anymore” rant. It’s a “why are entire elemental identities being sidelined like they never mattered” kind of rant.
