>lockdown vs wilderness
Depending on the Event, either one might be better. A “lockdown” area, a place with total government control, could provide security, food, electricity, but could also be a living hell. Wilderness is the same, it could be dangerous, or the only real option to not get “drafted” off to a killing field or forced to take a strange injection.
The levels of risk on both sides could slide and shift, say some really convincing information got released that caused EVERY Hispanic to rebel or riot, being in a cozy town with Ice agents or natl guard guys guarding your neighborhood might be nice compared to getting your face peeled off by angry cartel goons. Or, you could find yourself in a situation where every website requires an ID, porn is banned, weed is banned, curfews, “dissenting opinions” are banned, you have to go through a metal detector to get into Walmart, the only store open, and you have to bribe the “security guards” to get anywhere.
I’ve been deep focusing on certain zones because a country wide map doesn’t show everything super accurate, Miami is an interesting case, when considered with the wealthy and elderly population. There will be many old and rich people that want “law and order”, and many people fleeing up the coast. The situation might come down to what side of a bridge you live on. Huge population centers are very unstable, during The Event, they will “Pop”, shit will pop off, and it won’t stop, and people will flee them, disrupting surrounding areas. These major cities will be cut off from the rest of the surrounding land to try and prevent the damage from spreading. Food is a key factor here, once people get hungry, everything goes out the window. We didn’t see people fleeing during Covid becasue everything was still functioning and available, if power goes out or food shortages happen, it’s gonna get bad.
