Dumb chocies, but it makes sense why they'd choose that. Work in backbreaking work for shit pay for 12 hours a day (While being able to afford jackshit) or rob some fuckers and potentially make that pay in a day. Sell drugs and 10X what you would make as a Mcdonalds cashier getting yelled at by assholes. Obviously they themselves are pricks, but what do you expect? Surely it's unreasonable for you to expect your kid self to be responsible for the rest of your life, right? Not to mention who is even teaching you right from wrong? Surely those people didn't have fathers in their lives or their fathers we're just as big a pricks as they turned out to be.
I have a degree and am employed, but it was hard as shit to get a job. Was unemployed for like 3 years after I graduated. Cost of living already shot through the roof, jobs are hard to come by, and homeless people are treated like shit. I can see why at some point, you're going to say "fuck you, too."
Perhaps some deserve that fate, but it really is tough out there.
