reminds me of picrel which still can be observed from time to time on helioviewer
but this would not go unnoticed right ?
if something is just sucking away the stars ? or eats them up like a huge pacman ?
star size comparrison would imply a truly massive entity
so other than something that is putting dyson spheres around these stars at a speed that is unimaginable for the prowesses of the human civilization i cant think of something else, something covering up the view seems to be the most likely explanation, the "drains it" theory could also work but then again it would be noticed as slowly fading instead of gone, just like that, like light switch flipped. also is the natural decay theory which would also leave trace of their existence. speaking of, the surrounding objects would behave differently if the stars were just gone including their gravitation right ?
