He's wrong because God never promised salvation to the Jews. He said salvation would come from the tribe of Judah. God DID promise them land and descendants that would remain till the very endbut he never said anything about being inherently saved. He even proves it when he cuts off an entire tribe at Mt Sinai when Moses offers to be written out of the book of life but God refuses him and writes the tribe of Dan (I believe) out of the book of life, this action allowed the grafting of people who belonged to other divine beings into God's people.
