Thanks to a lot of modern fandom being condensed around gacha games, I think "mixed toilet"/omnipandering makes both sides extra territorial and resentful of the other. Neither side really understood or liked the other's taste in the first place, but it's harder to learn to live and let live when you're sharing a room with them and resources feel "split." I've been pulling away from gacha myself but the IP I've enjoyed the most has always been monogender.
