Even if he was a child that never grew up, he was pure of heart and a truly kind in an truly divine and innocent way. His resolve was admiral. He wanted to correct the mistakes of the past, pardon the Hornsent and those damned in the dark. He wanted to save everyone, can we really blame him and say he was "evil"? No, he wasn't...but he had to be stopped.

That's where St. Trina's quest comes in. We aren't killing Miquella because we hate him. We are doing it to save him. Save him from a fate worse than death. To save him from himself. As St. Trina, his other discard half says:

"Make Miquella stop... Don't turn the poor thing into a god..."
"Godhood would be Miquella's prison. A caged divinity... is beyond saving."
"You must kill Miquella... Grant him forgiveness."
