The screams of battle echoed through the jungle-clad cliffs of God Valley. Smoke curled into the sky. Explosions shook the soil as Garp’s fist crushed another of Rocks’ monstrous allies.

Gol D. Roger stood still in the chaos — cape torn, blade crimson, Haki radiating like the sun. His boots crunched over scorched earth and shattered chains. Around him, a small group of terrified slaves huddled behind broken cages. A revolutionary among them — a young, fiery-eyed woman — stood defiantly.

"Let them go!" she shouted, bruised but unafraid. “These are people, Roger! Not tools for the Dragons!”

Roger glanced at her, calm but unreadable. “And where will they go?” he asked softly. “The world isn’t ready to protect them.”

She stepped forward. “They’d rather die free than live like this!”

He sighed and turned toward the sound of approaching Rocks Pirates. “I’ve seen what happens when ideals get ahead of strength. Rocks thinks he can topple the world, but all he’ll do is break it into pieces.”

“You’re helping the Celestial Dragons!” she spat.

Roger met her gaze. “No,” he said. “I’m stopping Rocks.”

He walked toward the cage, and for a moment, the slaves’ eyes lit up — until he closed the gate with one hand.

“You think I enjoy this?” he growled. “You think I don’t know what they are? I’ve fought them in my own way, time and again. But if Rocks wins, there’ll be no world left for you to save. Just blood. Just monsters.”

“They’re already monsters!” she shouted.

Roger turned back one last time. “And you think tearing off the mask fixes that?”

The ground shook — Whitebeard clashed with Garp in the distance. Chaos reigned.

Roger sheathed his sword, blood still drying on his arms.

“There’s a time for change, but it’s not today", he said, as he put handcuffs on a slave that had escaped.

Then he vanished into the smoke, leaving the slaves behind — alive, but not free.
