I don't know why the Gnostics began to believe that the demiurge had a lion's head
in the mysteries and many religions, horned and reptilian gods were often spoken of, but in fact, they were reptiles with horns and a face similar to the head of a goat/horse/ram. although perhaps it depends on perception, I think Chinese dragons are closest to what "gods" look like (for the Chinese, all gods are snakes and dragons, but as I understand it, dragons grow slowly and perhaps at first they can simply look like nagas)
