She's willfully ignorant of the consequences of her own actions, even as she performs them, having faith in the least desirable of a set of possible outcomes.
She actually believed it was possible that bullet wouldn't ricochet directly towards you, meaning she lacked faith in her aim.
There was a real chance, according to her, that she would've missed and looked incredibly dumb.
