"Alright, but we'll have to be quick." You say and you lean down to start rummaging through the goblin's pockets. Being tutorial enemies, you didn't expect much in terms of gear but a rare roll could yield a nice accessory or weapon, the latter neither of you could make use off beyond selling off.
The Party Obtains:
3 daggers
3 stale bread
2 copper rings
2 health potions
1 mana potion
1 enchanted ring (Wearer gains slight slashing resistance)
As expected, you didn't find anything exceptional but the ring was a neat find and the potions were going to be crucial if you wanted to complete the dungeon. You're pocketing the last of the times when you hear Serena cry out in pain. "Ah!" You spin around to see her pulling an arrow out of her arm before another struck the ground nearby.
"Get behind cover!" You shout as you sprint over to her and pull her behind a tree. You feel a lance of pain jolt up from your side meaning you didn't get out of this unscathed. You can hear the malicious giggling of goblins off in the distance as arrows continue to pour from out of the trees. There had to be a group of archers hiding nearby trying to keep you pinned. Of course, it wouldn't be a dungeon if it didn't do it's best to try and kill you. As you try to stay in cover, another group of goblins leap out to confront you on the opposite flank keeping the two of you stuck.
"W-what do we do?!" Serena says her panic rising. You step forward to put yourself between the on coming goblins and Serena while keeping the tree behind you. You could stand your ground but with the archers behind you, your maneuverability was going to be greatly limited and you wouldn't be able to guarantee you'd get out of this one without taking a hit or two. You consider your options. You could rush the archers and try to keep behind cover but with so many archers, you were still bound to be hit. You could have Serena cast a Fire Wall spell. The arrows looked flimsy enough that they'd burn completely before crossing the barrier but that'd be a temporary solution. Serena's aim was exceptional and she could probably take archers down with Ice Lances but she'd be exposing herself every time she cast...unless she learned to snap shot. Much like in traditional MMOs, Nevermore's spells required time and concentration to cast. Moving or taking too much damage would disrupt the magical flow and cause a spell to fail. At higher levels, casters could take skills to mitigate some of this and allow them to move a bit or take more damage before the cancellation happened. However, there was a brief instance before a cast when off that a mage could freely move and by taking advantage of this free moment of movement they could reposition themselves or even change the target of their spell. If Serena could snap shot, she'd be able to cast behind the tree then fling the spell at the archers.
