I don't get where retarded ideas like this come from. DRS was already notoriously underran and that shit had a queue system that didn't fight the players who just wanted to enter it like FT does.
The whole game from the MSQ / Normals portion is designed around doing it blind then the raiding portion of the game is enforced guide reading / watching with no realistic way to learn the fights blind unless you and your 7 compatriots have been around the block a few times.
EW was the first time hundreds of thousands of new people got to take their first swing at Savage and it burnt the fuck out of them just like everyone else that came before. Savage in it's entirety has always been a downwards line of participation, then there was the start of EW that saw a surge upward, then it was right back to that downward line for 6.2 and 6.4.
Don't make Savage bitchmade and nerf it, just copy paste it, slap AoE markers on it, make some (if any) instant death mitigatable and the mechanics apply a massive 80%+ damage down onto players for fucking them up, dole out some shite reward like 1 savage book per week per floor, and call it Hard Mode.
People can learn the fights blind (as god intended), failing mechanics means the boss enrages and kills everyone with half it's HP remaining, and the people who will neverever clear savage have something to do and grind if they want glamours and shit.
Savage's "You die in one hit to invisible shenanigans" is not a good way to learn a fight and never has been. Savage by design should be for people who've perfected the fight, it's why a Hard mode should exist where you can actually learn this shit. At a bare minimum it will make PuG Savage infinitely more palatable since the players can and will demand to see that Hard Mode clear before they let you join, they'll police themselves on that front for sure.
