Official Hu Tao timeline:
Hu Tao is born. Grandfather is retired director 75. Father is active director 76. Mother is unknown.
Several years pass, a family photo is taken with Hu Tao, her father and grandfather. Based on her height, she is around 3 years old.
Later, Hu Tao's father died. Her exact age when this occurred is not specified, but we know from Hu Tao's recent dialogue that it took place 12 years in the past relative to the date of the recent lantern rite. Event timelines can be slightly unreliable.
>There was a border incident on Wuwang Hill about a dozen years ago. My dad tried using the Art of Homa to burn away the fetor, but he slipped up and suffered a lethal exposure to it. He died on the spot.
After the tragic incident, Hu Tao's grandfather takes back the role of director in the fathers absence but has been weakened by it. He also trains Hu Tao. This roughly aligns with a line from her original character story:
>When she was eight, she started living in the parlor and learning the etiquette of funeral ceremonies...
And this quote:
>Grandpa always called me gifted for mastering the Wangsheng arts by the age of eight
A few years after that, Hu Tao is now 13. Her grandfather dies, she takes over the mantle of director and starts handling funerals herself
>Only thirteen at the time, Hu Tao, who would later go on to become the Director in turn, made all the arrangements herself
>During her teenage years, Hu Tao was tasked with conducting a funeral ceremony for the first time.
Her teenage years pass by. Hu Tao spends the next few years acclimating to her position as director. From her voicelines:
>First thing I took over was funeral affairs. Haha, surprising huh? And just like that, it's already been a few years
Based on surrounding context this timeframe can be estimated as 6-7 years. Eventually at around 20 years old, her path intertwines with the traveler's on a fateful encounter at Wuwang Hill.

Happy 21st birthday, Hu Tao!
