As I said, the reception is pretty 50/50. I can only go off of NGA posts and Twitter/Lofter so take this with a grain of salt: day one readers were mostly long-time Crimson Troupe fans. They were generally upset because of the various retcons. Shippers, however, where happy, because Phantom and Shalem were made to be childhood friends in the manhua and were show to have previously attempted escape together in the event. If you browse for fanart, you'll find that the vast majority is ship artwork. People who read a few days later were more or less average players who didn't have super strong feelings towards Phantom/Shalem/the Crimson Troupe in the first place and rated the event a "6/10 ~ 7/10". I saw a lot of people say "it's a very standard Arknights story." Make of that what you will, I guess.
