Serbia must raise the level of its defense capabilities as the current global situation is one where law, justice or rules do not exist, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said.

"Everything we do, we do it for the citizens of Serbia. It is a matter of the highest interests of the citizens of Serbia to be protected, to be safe, and to be secure," he said after the meeting of the extended Collegium of Chief of General Staff.

President Vučić also said the compulsory military service would be reinstated, but in the meantime, the plan is for the armed forces units to be filled with professional soldiers "as well as possible."
