I've been watching American police bodycam videos for the past day or so.
What I can say is that while there are a lot of trigger-happy American cops (mostly they just shoot a lot more than needed), they also deal with a lot of crazy people and blacks charging at them, so I'd say in 70% of the cases they are quite justified to magdump.
It must be terrifying to be a cop in the US.
