I always thought Northern Canada was underpopulated because of the cold weather but now I realize the geography is complete shit. All the trees are skinny, sparse and scraggly and grow in peaty or waterlogged soils with shallow roots. Most of it is nutrient-poor soil on rocky or boggy ground, with degrading permafrost. I honestly feel bad for them now. What a waste of so much land.
