The street likely predates motor vehicles, the one in the town i live in kind of does as a form as transportation but the company founder decided on proper urban and future planning at the time and as a form of firebreak amongst other things put sidewalks and a decently wide road between each block of row homes.
Granted within just 40 years it had changed to vehicle parking on both sides but the sidewalks are all still there. The exclusion is main street which is too way, with an green median in between and roundabout (parking on left and right but not middle), also around the town Square and general store the sidewalk is about 20-25 feet wide.
Houses were about 1000-1200 square feet and sections were based on nationality, after WW1 they opened built a new section as they foresaw blacks migrating north.
No Italians so truly a great place.
Rent was also less than 10% of a workers salary...
