"The connection with Buddha is little more than a modern scholarly assumption based on the similarities in their stories. It's possible that these were just Christian people who happened to have a vaguely similar story to Buddha. There are literally tens of thousands of saints, coincidences can and do happen.

But also, these are very obscure saints. The thing is, there is no official full list of saints in Orthodoxy. What we have are many different incomplete lists compiled in different places and times. "Obscure" saints are those saints found on only one or a couple such lists, and not on others. Their status is debatable. The saints found on all the ancient lists, and those canonized in more recent times when the news of the canonization was recorded and known across the Orthodox world, are the indisputable saints.

The Orthodox saints are a category with some gray areas around the edges. For example, where precisely is the cutoff between Orthodox and non-Orthodox saints from Western Europe? Somewhere around the 11th century, but it's unclear which 11th century saints count as Orthodox and which don't."

I already knew this, I'm just posting this for you since you got scandalized by it.
Old Believers are schismatics, same with all groups that separate from the Body of Christ for any reason. As Fr Josiah says about marriage, as soon as one of you use the word "divorce" then whatever led to the fight in the first place no longer matters: now the sole issue is the fact that one of you thought it was okay to suggest separation. It overshadows any other reason.
