>"I don't think Mayu was keen on this tag team from the start. At least, that's how it seemed to me. That's why I was so desperate not to make her regret teaming up with me. What if someone who is considered an icon of Stardom lost when teaming up with me? More than the joy of being able to team up with her, I felt a sense of responsibility. I put a lot of pressure on myself. And after our first match, Mayu praised me loads. We went out to eat together and watched the video again, and she reflected on all the little things, trying to help me grow."
On the day of the tag league finals, Comomo volunteered to wrestle in a singles match with Iwatani. She wanted to show her growth for herself. And it seemed her wish was heard, as on March 22nd in Ginowan, Okinawa, she challenged the Goddess of Stardom Championship held by tag league winners and fellow STARS wrestlers Hanan and Saya Iida. In order to hone her teamwork with Iwatani, she spent her time alone practicing and maintaining herself. Although she didn't get any results here either, it was enough to raise expectations for the next match. However...
On April 27th at Yokohama Arena, Iwatani lost the IWGP Women's Championship and left Stardom the next day, and also left STARS. How did she feel about this situation?
>"I couldn't imagine Mayu losing, but because it's such an important belt for her, it would be terrible if she lost it, and I was worried that she might not have anything she wanted to do next. But she really did lose, and there was still the Goddess (championship) challenge with Comomo so I was wondering if she would stay... But I honestly told Mayu, "I'm going to miss you" (laughing). Mayu was like, "I know, right?" And she was like, "But it's not like you won't see each other forever," but I really wanted to stand in the ring with Iwatani Mayu."
If so, will she follow Iwatani? Was there no option to move to Marigold? When asked, Mukai answered decisively:
