Lads I need some advice.
I work in retail and have to wear a headset (covering one ear) for the whole shift (varies from 5-8 hours but usually on the longer side). I wear mine over my left ear, and for the past few weeks I have had a constant loud ringing sound in that ear. I've had tinnitus in both ears for as long as I can remember but most of the time I don't notice it at all because it's so quiet, but this new ringing is much louder and harder to ignore.
I've had the past few days off and hoped it might get better, but unfortunately the ringing is as bad now as it was when I took off the headset a few days ago. Now I'm worried that this ringing might be hearing damage and that it won't go away. I'm at a bit of a loss what to do. I really like this job and don't want to quit, but also I value my health more and don't want to end up deaf in one ear. I spoke to some people who suggested just wearing the headset on the other ear, but I'm worried that it'll just cause ringing and hearing loss in that ear as well. I'd rather have at least one good ear than no good ears.
I don't believe it's wax blockage either, because I've had that before and this doesn't feel like it.
Any advice? Thanks in advance.
