They should've done away with the multiverse sstuff while keeping zeknova concept if they wanted by explaining its a explosive reaction between an unstable psycommu system and/or unstable newtype. That way you can keep the same motivations for the major characters intact by saying Gihren is cloning/producing newtypes for use in zeknova bombings but cant produce aforementioned psycommu stuff reliably, and on the flipside kycilia has the psycommu production down, but doesnt have the newtype numbers to support it. tTat way u got chalia retain the motivation of assassinating both to keep newtypes free from being used as weapons as if either of the zabi's lived, they'd seize both means of using newtypes as literal WMD's.
